Research

The Institute of Microwaves and Optics (IMP) is working in the frame of the LOEWE Priority Program COCOON on the theme of transceiver architectures. Primary target is the modelling and simulation of flexible, dynamically reconfigurable transceivers from the baseband to the HF-frontend for Multiservice/Multiband-Systems.

The reconfigurable HF-Frontend is a general platform with the following properties:

• controllable/switchable HF-components

• parametrable signal processing (in the baseband) as reaction on network and user requirements

• measuring of reflected power as well as control of adaptive matching networks

• increased energy efficiency by adaption of the power amplifier

Expected advantages

• Notable reduction of the required parallel transceiver features by frequency-agile frontend technology

• Clearly upgraded efficiency of array and energy by adaptive matching
